There are over 600 children in the Edmonds School District and 1200 children in the Everett School District that are considered homeless and part of the McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth Assistance Act. These children may live in shelters, tents, cars, transitional housing or other temporary housing.
The needs of each homeless family are different and Washington Kids is there to provide the resources they require. We can only do this with your help!
Donate
Your Donation Makes a Difference!
Our biggest challenge is keeping up with the increase of kids in the transitional program. School is one of the few stable, secure places in the lives of homeless youths, a place where they can acquire the skills needed to help them escape poverty.
We are proud to work with community partners, social workers and case managers to provide resources that make a difference.
Research has shown that a student that is homeless for even a short period of time suffers physical and emotional trauma for their rest of their life. We believe, it is a community responsibility to provide hope and opportunity to these students.
A direct donation to our program allows us to be flexible and responsive to the emergency needs of the families we serve. You can make a secure one-time or ongoing monthly donation via PayPal by clicking the DONATE button below.
We also accept donations of food for our supplemental food program and emergency food pantries in the schools. Drop-offs are accepted at the following locations:

Volunteer
We rely on our community volunteers and partners to keep Washington Kids in Transition running. We have several opportunities to get involved throughout the year with projects like snack packing, our annual fundraising auction, Scriber Lake HS prom, deliveries to our schools, and more.
Please check back for our forthcoming volunteer sign-up form. In the meantime, follow our Facebook page, subscribe to our newsletter, or email us at washingtonkidsintransition@gmail.com for more information.
Our Sponsors and Partners
Our generous sponsors and community partners provide support for Washington Kids in Transition in several important ways. We could not continue to make a difference in the lives of our homeless students and families without their involvement.
One of the biggest ways a business can get involved is to either make a direct donation to our program or become a sponsor of our annual fundraising auction. For information on how to become involved, or to receive a sponsorship packet, email us at washingtonkidsintransition@gmail.com.
