Community Distribution Center

WA Kids in Transition · March 1, 2020 ·

On Feb. 28th 2020, Washington Kids in Transition opened a community distribution center. This community hub allows us to better serve local social workers and family advocates. Advocates can pick up emergency food, clothing, hygiene, toiletries, diapers, and transportation vouchers.

Tours of the distribution center can be scheduled at 206.697.3385

Feeding Students and Families

WA Kids in Transition · December 13, 2019 ·

Updated March 1, 2021.

Our mission is to provide food to the children each day after school. Some of the children will not have another meal from the time they leave school until they come back to school the next day. The food is distributed on the bus for them to take home. Pre-COVID 19 we provided 250 small food bags each day after school. In 2018 we distributed 32,000 small bags of food.

The Emergency Motel Voucher Program

WA Kids in Transition · December 13, 2019 ·

The emergency motel voucher program was created to assist families in crisis. Washington Kids in Transition will provide hotel stays for families enrolled in transitional programs through the School District and with a recommendation from the District homeless liaison and Student Resources Advocates. Funding is limited for this program and we NEED YOUR HELP. Last year, we provided 362 nights to families in the district in need.

Emergency Closets

WA Kids in Transition · December 13, 2019 ·

Currently, we offer emergency closets to every school in the Edmonds School District. Social workers and case managers have the opportunity to “shop” for emergency items. Although our inventory is always changing, we carry emergency food, clothing, hygiene, toiletries, shoes, socks, and gift cards.

Granted Wishes

This year, we will add an additional component to the emergency closets called Granted Wishes.  Counselors and Advocates  have the opportunity to make individual requests on behalf of our homeless students.  These requests can range from sports equipment to prom tickets, sleeping bags to bus passes.
